What principles define how you live?

The main principal I live my life by, is to just be kind. Be kind to humans, and be kind to animals.

I’m kind to people, I pride myself in trying to be kind all the time. I’m kind to animals, and I action this by being vegan.

It’s unfortunate that not everybody values kindness in the same way I do. Today was a difficult day, and highlighted to me the unkindness and selfishness of people around me.

In a bid to regain my confidence, I have been making myself go out every day even if I don’t want to.

Today’s task, go to Tesco and pick up a box of boneios, because the dogs have one each before bed and I can’t deprive them of that little treat!

Unfortunately the bus I got was incredibly busy, there were people standing all down the middle aisle of the bus. When I got on, a lady said “ you are going to have to stand there”, to which I exclaimed for the whole bus to hear “I’m going to need somebody to give up their seat because I am disabled. I won’t be able to safely stand with my guide dog when the bus is moving”.

Several people saw me get on the bus and nobody offered their seat. It took me telling the whole bus that I needed a seat for it to happen.

Then, when I was at Tesco, I joined what I thought was the back of a queue to pay for my items. Only for a lady to tap me on the shoulder and point behind me. Where there was a queue of people. I had obviously missed this because I’m blind. I explained to her that I didn’t see the people were there and that pointing isn’t very helpful to me because I’m blind only for her to tut at me.

Maybe they were having a bad day, maybe they weren’t feeling great, but being kind to someone makes a difference and I think being kind can make you happier. I like being kind, it makes me feel good.

This is a bit of a ramble and I guess a kind of PSA to the world, disabled people so regularly experience the world being unkind and all it takes is a little bit of kindness.

My therapist wants me to end each of my blog posts with something positive, so here we go:

I made an INCREDIBLE vegan dauphinoise tonight! I have never made it before and it was 👌🏻
