Before I lost my sight I used to LOVE to read. I read all the time, two sometimes three books a week. I would spend lots of time in the library and would always leave with a stack of books to read.

I especially liked getting into a series, completely immersing myself in a world. Harry Potter, Warrior Cats, a series of unfortunate events and Jacqueline Wilson. I read it all.

When I lost my sight I lost books. I couldn’t enjoy reading when the way I had to read was by audio.

(I’m not going to debate on the language I use when talking about reading audiobooks because it comes with ableist undertones, if you are taking in a book you are reading)

There have been a few books I’ve really enjoyed as an audiobook. It just isn’t the same. Either I don’t like the narrator or I fall asleep.

I miss books though.
