What’s something most people don’t understand?

One day, every one of us will experience disability in some form. So while you can, treat disabled people with compassion and dignity—it’s something that ultimately benefits us all.

Disabled people remain one of the most marginalised groups in society. Our boundaries and privacy are too often overlooked, and we’re frequently subjected to invasive, deeply personal questions. Many of us are expected to represent disability to the public at all times—and that’s exhausting.

So the next time you interact with a disabled person, take a moment to reflect on your words and actions. Approach with respect, empathy, and care—because one day, it will be you.
